This Heart
This heart beats no more.
Chambers emptied, severed,
From he who used it so well.
This blackened heart pumps no more.
Never again will it fuel the soul,
With hatred, venom, or fear.
Blackened, ugly heart revoked.
Removed, ready to be bagged,
Shelved; to eternally gather dust.
Useless, blackened, ugly heart,
Cast out and replaced by elation;
Beat no more.

Excellent. And, I love the music!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mama Zen. I'm trying to get some more done for more variety, but it's slow going with all that's going on here...
ReplyDeleteSomehow this poem speaks volumes.
ReplyDeleteThere is an unquiet mind behind it.
Hatred?
It spoke to me....
ReplyDeleteHere is my magpie:
a wheel barrow
ugly heart,
ReplyDeleteCast out and replaced by elation
Now, that has to be good! Hope wins!
Into the depths of the darkness of this piece, and out comes a truly beautiful poem. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThank you all...
ReplyDeletelove the wit and humor in it.
ReplyDeletebeautiful delivery.
Good riddance to bad rhythm
ReplyDeleteWow, wonderful piece. I will think of the chambers of a heart every time I see it now!
ReplyDeleteThe music certainly adds something, and seeing the carving as a heart is a neat interpretation.
ReplyDeleteI see the black element spoke to both of us...
